Brescia University has partnered with Gorman Recruiting to fill the Director of Career Services position in Owensboro, KY. This position will provide comprehensive advising, and personal counseling related to career exploration and employment placement needs of students and alumni. This position is part of the Office of Student Development.
Brescia University was founded by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph in 1950. Its origins are in Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women, established at Maple Mount, Kentucky, in 1925. Directed to academic and moral excellence in a student-centered environment, Brescia offers undergraduate and graduate programs that serve students who seek success through rewarding careers and service to others.
Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and coordinate programs to assist students with career planning, internships, and job placement
Reports to the Vice President of Student Development/Dean of Students
Provides supervision to student workers
Cultivate partnerships with the business community that will provide professional learning opportunities like internships, co-op placements as well as pre and professional employment opportunities
Direct and coordinate the CO.STARTERS program, including recruitment of participants, facilitators, guest speakers, and appropriate trainings Counsel and advise students about career planning, internships, employment and graduate school searches
Promote and participate in area job fairs Coordinate graduate school opportunities for students
Coordinate job placement for students - part-time, summer and temporary positions as well as entry level career positions Assist alumni re-entering the job market or attempting to advance their careers
Represent the University as a member of College Placement Network (CPN) and work with Career Counselors from other AIKCU schools Supervise student workers Coordinate special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Development
Develop and deliver informational workshops on career related topics
Secondary Job Duties:
Provide alumni career counseling and placement services when feasible
Collect and record employment data for recent graduates
Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
Valid Driver's License
Basic knowledge of computers
Some knowledge of database programs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to function independently and energetically
Ability to deal empathetically with people of diverse backgrounds and ages
Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements are within the general range of an office position. The job requires extensive wrist and hand movements for computer tasks, and a certain amount of stooping, bending, carrying, kneeling, and walking. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions of the job. The job may require unusual or irregular work hours.
Salary will be based on experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
