Owensboro Municipal Utilities is seeking a highly motivated individual to assume the position of Benefits and Payroll Supervisor. OMU is a well-maintained utility system with state of the art equipment, outstanding personnel and a culture that values community, safety, ethics and employees.
Under the routine supervision of the Human Resource Manager, the Benefits and Payroll Supervisor will perform a variety of supervision and administrative tasks, including overseeing a broad range of human resource functions linked to benefits, payroll and related areas. The successful candidate must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures associated with benefits and payroll. Other duties of the position are, but not limited to identifying legal requirements and regulations affecting OMU payroll and benefit functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. This position also administers benefits programs such as health, life, dental, vacation, sick leave, disability, workers compensation and employee assistance. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills.
An associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Personnel Management or related field of study is required. The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of human resource management, benefit and payroll programs, law and regulatory compliance. The ability to practice a high level of discretion and confidentiality is essential for this position. A minimum of three to five years of payroll, benefits or human resource administrative experience also required.
